All current samples of Psilocybe ingeli are descendent from a single collection made in 2023 by Talan Moult in the Ingeli mountains of South Africa. Alkaloid testing has found it to be on par with, or exceeding P. zapotecorum and Panaeolus cyanescens. It is very vigorous, fast-growing and produces fruits easily under a variety of conditions.

Formally described from New Mexico in 2007, near Mescalero in Lincoln County, USA, this species is only known to occur at the type location. Originally discovered and collected by mycologist Lee Walstad.

There has been quite a mix-up with this taxon in recent years. Samples had been widely traded, including on this website, of a species which had been collected in Natal and identified as P. natalensis. Ultimately, those samples were found to represent an entirely different taxon, and one completely new to science at that - Psilocybe ochraceocentrata. This isolate we now offer here is verified to be the original and true Psilocybe natalensis; a very large, unique and quite frankly beautiful species from South Africa.

Originally described under the invalid name P. novoxalapensis in 2005, this species was validly published as Psilocybe neoxalapensis in 2009. It is a member of the Psilocybe fagicola complex, along with species like P. fagicola, P. oaxacana, P. banderillensis, P. columbiana, P. keralensis, P. herrerae, and P. teofiloi.

Psilocybe niveotropicalis is a recently described, wood-loving, bluing hallucinogenic mushroom discovered in South Florida in 2019. It's taxonomically placed near other tropical Psilocybe species, distinguished by its lighter cap coloration, unique spore morphology, and significant alkaloid content.
