We are very excited to offer selections from our library of rare species; packaged in our new MycoTrue(TM) 10ml Isolate Vials! 

Each species has been genetically tested to verify their identity, so you can be certain what you order is exactly what you get. It's our hope that by offering this collection of unique and rare fungi, we can foster serious, in-depth research into these very special and currently understudied organisms.

The samples will ultimately cover dozens of species across five genera and a worldwide geographical spread, so we suggest checking back often to stay abreast of any new additions to the catalog.

Alongside the genetic information provided you will find detailed taxonomic descriptions as well as habitat, distribution and ecological specifics. If there is anything found to be incorrect, however minor, please contact us to let us know! Though available information on many of these species is scant, we want our presented details to be as accurate and comprehensive as possible. We are eager for corrections or details we may have missed!

The genetic information we provide is a sequence of a region of fungal DNA called the Internal Transcribed Spacer, which is a region of so-called ‘junk DNA’, a section of the genome that appears to serve no particular function. This region in particular is incredibly varied in fungi, with predictable variations occurring between even very closely related species. This allows for very confident identification of a species, even when other characteristics are ambiguous or not known.

Though we recommend they be utilized within thirty days, and guarantee them up to that point, the solution in the vials can be stored at room temperature and remain viable for a much longer period of time. Many species can remain viable for years. If you have not used this type of product before, be sure to watch the short demonstration video and note the instructions below. Each order will be provided with one sterility packaged syringe filter, syringe, and needle.

HOW TO UTILIZE MYCOTRUE VIALS - (see video below)

1. Remove syringe and syringe filter from packaging.
2. Attach syringe filter to syringe.
3. Draw plunger to fill syringe with air.
4. Remove syringe filter from syringe.
5. Attach needle to syringe.
6. Shake vial vigorously.
7. Remove cap from vial.
8. Insert needle through top of vial, into air space above the solution.
9. Inject an amount of air equal to the amount of solution you wish to draw.
10. Invert vial and release pressure on plunger to draw out solution
11. Turn upright and remove syringe from the vial.
12. Cap syringe.
