Spores of this historical selection are direct descendants of the original collection of a single mushroom found outside of Tampa, Florida in 1977 by Steven Pollock. It wasn't collected in Florida again until 44 years later. Once considered extremely rare, it is now known to be synonym with Psilocybe atlantis from Georgia, based on recent genetic tests. Forms sclerotia "philospher's stones" in culture.
